English Language
Each level of education (kindergarten, primary and senior) has a "Bilingual Education Project " established by the Ministry of Education that articulates the official curriculum with the corresponding International Baccalaureate programme (IBO). This ensures "bilingual" training through two main processes:
1. acquisition of oral and written language and cultural skills in Spanish and English.
2. study of subjects and contents in both languages.
As far as English is concerned, as students progress through their schooling and, they acquire language proficiency, the number of subjects taught in English increases gradually and comes to account for 45% of the curriculum offered in the senior school. The transfer of the English culture
is permanent at all levels and it is reinforced with study trips, student exchange trips and sports trips abroad and by participating in English language international competitions such as debates and Model United Nations.
In this way, once the language is absorbed and strengthened, the critical and reflective thinking is stimulated, and the culture is experienced and incorporated, our students can communicate and interact effectively and use the English language in their own life projects.
Chinese Language
Through the teaching of Chinese language we intend to extend the tools we provide our students to meet the challenges of today's society.
This is an optional and extracurricular weekly meeting activity. We have highly experienced native teachers who transmit students the Chinese language and culture. As a driver for learning and, aware that students are shown a very different cultural universe, teachers work with students through curiosity, amazement and eagerness for discovery. Music is also incorporated in the lessons due to the possibilities offered by the acquisition of tonal and rhythmic components unique to the language.
We want our students to interact in basic language situations, to look into their own appreciation of the world and to further develop their interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
French Language
We offer French language in the curriculum of the three International Baccalaureate programmes taught in the school: Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma. This choice reflects our philosophy of promoting the importance of communication in different languages to promote global interactions, deepening ties between individuals and communities and thus achieving a broad intercultural understanding.
The teaching of this language begins in the fourth year of primary school and extends to the last year of our senior school. Throughout this process, students work with updated methods and documents and with Communications and Information Technologies that strengthen and diversify learning situations.
Our goal is to train students to become proficient in the language, able to face verbal and written different day-to-day situations, understanding French as a "language-culture" and the teaching and learning of the discipline as a process shared between teachers and students.
We conclude our educational proposal by preparing our students to take the different levels of D.E.L.F (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française), certified by the French government and recognized worldwide.
